I  love notebooks. I'm like a magpie, I'm always collecting, analysing information and  clippings, or theatre stubs or reacting to something I've heard or seen.  For me, process is about both being inspired and analytical.

Whenever I am working on a project, I'm all about research and concept. I think its really important to immerse yourself in the visual world you are trying to communicate. These are my design mood boards for my 'The Master and Margarita'. A college design project.

Here is a selection of my designs from my final graduate project, based on 'The Master and Margarita' by Mikhail Bulgahov.

Apart from Costume Design and Sewing, I really enjoy making etchings and printwork. I love the boldness of the contrast of the ink and the strong need for bold marks.

For my Minor degree college project, I designed for the iconic character of Norma Desmond. These are the mood boards. I re-envisioned Billy Wilder's 1950's satire of the Hollywood system, taking place in the 1970's. In my 'Sunset Boulevard' Norma is even older, aged seventy. Liberace's spectacular stage costume's was a key inspiration for the designs, focusing on how we can often use outward glitz to conceal a contradictory sense of self. Norma is iconic and has a lot to offer a designer in terms of inspiration.

These drawings are my final designs for my minor degree project which set Billy Wilder's 1950 classic 'Sunset Boulevard' in the 1970's.

Assassins is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It uses the premise of a murderous carnival game to produce a revue-style portrayal of men and women who attempted (successfully or not) to assassinate Presidents of the United States. Assassins as a musical explores the futility of the American dream. It explores through the lens of nine individuals a somewhat anarchistic attitude to traditional American values.
